Corban & Blair is - Gillian Corban and Amanda Blair and their very talented staff.
Our business & personal philosophy is to be creative, sustainable, passionate & relevant.
Right from the beginning we were serious and committed to design, excellence and best business practice, but we never envisaged the stimulating, creative enterprise of wonderful employees, associates, suppliers and customers we continue to work with.
We opened a niche in designer Australian stationery for many to follow. We were inspired by others and in turn, inspired other new creative businesses.
We know this because we talk to others, share information, contacts and ideas.
Twenty years later our approach is still hands on and fashion orientated combining environmental considerations for utility, durability and recycling.
We like to lead the field in ideas and concepts so we try new approaches and materials. This involves risk, but it is the essence of innovation and leadership – it keeps us focused.
Creating two retail collections a year, special products for other brands and designing unique product solutions for the business sector is harder than it sounds- but we love the challenge.
You will find us in David Jones department stores, specialty stationery, gift and home wares stores – see our stockists page.
You may have received a stylish red leather notebook at a Westpac seminar or used the room compendia in a Rydges hotel – these were designed by us.
We constantly search for new ideas and concepts to add value and meaning to our products. Ideas come from nature, technology, other cultures, materials, textures or our intuitive responses to the market place.
Corban & Blair are members of the Marrickville Target Sustainability Business Program. We are committed to making a lighter footprint in everything we do and we hope our customers will join us. We are committed to operating a business that targets environmental sustainability. We pay the carbon credits on all our New Zealand made photo frames. We sponsor a child in PLAN, a school in Tanzania and support the arts, schools, education and mentor and coach within the business community and work with Euraba Indigenous artists and papermakers.
We have run a profitable business, provided employment, paid our bills, mentored and helped others, provided opportunities for students and young people, partnered with customers and generally participated in the community. We have evolved a sustainable business model ie turn over, profitability, creativity, staffing and passion; with time to give back to the community.
We think it is an achievement to have been in a business for over twenty years, that we are still passionate about.
Gillian & Amanda.
